Moving Next Month ----- Texas, here we come!!!!

This may cause us some problems with keeping our buget; however, we are still going to try very hard to maintain it. We are trying not too spend anything that we don't have to on groceries until we are settled in there. We are moving with only what we can fit in our vehicles (as God has told us to). Therefore, besides a small stockpile of bathroom and cleaning essentials we will pretty much be starting over on building up our grocery stockpile when we get there. We are moving about 1 1/2 hours SE of Dallas, 1/2 hour S of Tyler so any advice on grocery shopping with coupons in that area would be greatly appreciated. We are really excited to see what God has in store for us.

Rebates and more ---- Love getting mail !!!

Here's what I've gotten in the mail the last few weeks.

Honest Scrap Award

I was nominated for my first blog award by Saving with Sara. This was back in January, but I just now figured out how to get it on my blog; LOL ok not very computer literate.

Here are the rules...The rules for the Honest Scrap award - The honorees are to:

A) first list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep!

B) pass the award on to 4 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

Simple. Or not.

1. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 17 ½ years (not always wonderful, lol!)
2. We have 5 great children!!!!
3. I love couponing and pride myself in my thriftiness.
4. I home-school our children; and I really love it.
5. I like reading, playing with our children, and Lifetime movies.
6. I originally wanted 12 children. (Fixed but may adopt in the future)
7. My favorite website is HCW.
8. I am always trying to help others learn to save money.
9. The only debt we have is our mortgage.
10. Really, really want to move to Arizona—so sick of cold, wet Indiana!

I am nominating the following 4 people for this award:

2/16/09 - CVS

Was reading on HCW and saw that there were some deals that I might be interested in; so off to CVS I went. Walked in the door and heard the voice of the not so coupon friendly mgr. Oh well, I'm still going to get my stuff. I only had coupons for the Airborne products.

Needless to say the Airborne Squid soap was clearanced, shelf was marked $2.00 so with my $2.00 off any Airborne coupon they should all three be free.

Well, nsf mgr decided to open register when she saw me in line. No problem, I'm not going to let her ruin my trip. Well, she went to ring in my Airborne coupons and told me I couldn't use them. I pointed out to her that the coupon states right across the good on any Airborne product and pointed to the label on the soap "by Airborne" she said, "Oh that's not why you can't use them, they are clearanced to $1.00 so the coupon exceeds the price." I said, "Ok, I'll take them anyway."

$$$$$

Like I stated when I started this blog I'll be adding my MIR's back into my budget. Ok I got back 3 rebates and I am adding that $$$ back into my budget. I got back $3.99 Excedrin, $2.99 Arm & Hammer Essentials, and $5.00 Zantac. So that's $11.98 going back in! The only thing I'm changing is adding the rebates to my balance I'm not changing my spending etc.... So at the end of the blog year my Blog to Date Spending may be higher than the $1400 but I am going off of the Blog to Date Balance which shows what I have left to spend for the year out of my $1400 budget.

Feeling better!!!

Although $73.00 OOP today was a little extreme. I stocked up on some things I needed. And all in all after RR's, ECB's, & MIR's -- I think I did pretty well. And that will help me to start rolling the RR's and ECB's again, which will lower my future OOP.

Todays' Tally:

$73.00 OOP
$10.00 RR
$13.00 ECB's
$2.73 MIR - Palmolive
$5.00 MIR - Coors
$15.00 Q's MIR - Pepsi

So considering OOP and rewards = I spent $73.00 but have/will get back $45.73 (for future purchases)
That's why I titled this post "Feeling Better!"

Thanks again and God bless to all of you that have decided to follow our blog.

Thank you

Just wanted to thank those of you who have decided to follow our blog. I know right now it doesn't look like we'll be able to achieve this goal. One thing I've learned since I started couponing is that when there is a good sale you stock up. There have been several times (sometimes weeks at a time--when there really aren't any good deals to be found), therefore, I try to stock up on items that I know we will use when they are on sale. Example: Now we are stocked on Peanut butter for the year, pads for at least a year, veggies and boxed potatoes for at least 2 1/2 months (till the next deal), toilet paper for at least 2 1/2 months (till the next deal). You'll start to notice that sometimes I seem like a shop-a-holic and then I'll do nothing for a few weeks or even a month. Hope this blog is helping you guys as much as its helping us. God bless.
